Extremely rare USM1 combat helmet with its original liner, both marked with the 4th Infantry division front " Ivy" insignia.
Both items are together since the war.
The shell number "289" indicates a September 1942 construction.
Liner is a superb mid-war model with green washers, complete with its original leather chinstrap.
The insignia is the "dark" model, more discreet than the "apple green" model.
Typical for any D-Day Utah beach's soldier !
