Extremely rare USM1 combat helmet with its original liner, both marked with the 1st Infantry division front insignia.
Both items are together since the war.
The shell number "137A" indicates a mid-1942 construction.
Liner is a superb mid-war model with grey color washers, complete with its original leather chinstrap.
The insignia is the typical Normandy model, different than the model in the earlier campaigns ( Africa, Italy, ...)
Typical for any D-Day Omaha beach's soldier !
